RE: Criminal Activities of Dr. James Catanzaro, Sr.
Dear Dr. Rhoda:
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of overwhelming
evidence to prove that Dr. James Catanzaro, President of
Chattanooga State Technical Community College (CSTCC), is not fit
to chair a position on the recently impaneled lottery task force.
In 1997, during his deposition in my civil rights case against
CSTCC, Dr. Catanzaro admitted under oath that he pled guilty to
stealing public funds in Ohio while President of Lakeland Community
College. That admission alone should preclude his serving on your
pannel. However, on March 21, 2002, Dr. Catanzaro lied under oath
in Hamilton County Chancery Court stating that he never pled guilty
in Ohio and was never charged with stealing public funds in Ohio.
This perjured testimony prevented a fired teacher at CSTCC
from having a fair trial under the civil rights statutes.
The enclosed tape recording of Dr. Catanzaro’s testimony in both
the deposition of 1997 and the Chancery Court trial of March 21,
2002 is crystal clear to his material perjury and cannot be
defended nor denied. The attached booklet of the federal court
records in Chicago regarding Dr. Catanzaro’s removal by the
trustees of Triton Community college, is overwhelming proof of Dr.
Catanzaro’s checkered past and involvement with members of
organized crime in Chicago.
The fact that Dr. Charles Manning refused to investigate my
allegations against Dr. Catanzaro and knowingly failed to inform at
least four(4) members of the Tennessee Board of Regents of the
information contained in my letter of July 2, 2002, questions the
honor and integrity of the Chancellor.
My enclosed letter of July 2, 2002, to Dr. Charles Manning,
Chancellor, Tennessee Board of Regents, certified mail #7001 1940
0002 9453 9525, explains in detail why Dr. Catanzaro is unfit to
serve in a position that will have such a powerful impact on the
average person in Tennessee.
The fact that Chancellor Manning and senior Tennessee State Senator
Ward Crutchfield have gone to great lengths over the past twelve
years to protect and whitewash Dr. Catanzaro’s prior illegal
activities places a dark cloud of suspension over your new lottery
commission, of which Chancellor Manning is also a member. The
enclosed ChattanoogaFax news article indicates that Tennessee
Regent Noble Cody was not made aware of Catanzaro’s past illegal
activity. Three other Regents were also kept in the dark.
By this letter, I am requesting an investigation into the illegal
activities of Dr. James Catanzaro and a determination if he is fit
to serve on the commission that determines where the Tennessee
lottery funds will go.
I can be reached at ErnestMP @ Aol.Com or (423)877-8723. I request
you inform me officially in writing as to your decision herein.
Very truly yours,
Ernest A. Oliver
